Remove Mold and Stains from Photos
Yes we can restore a photo with mold.
even repair excessive mold damage.
Mold usually begins in the
darker areas of the photo first and may have a moldy
smell.
Mold Usually will germinate when the relative humidity
exceeds approximately 70 percent and the temperature rises
above 68 degrees. You should keep the relative humidity
range between 25 and 50 percent.
When mold growth is active it is usually black. When it is
inactive mold is dry and powdery appearance.
Mold damage is permanent because it eats the paper of
the photo or stains it.
One reason a lot of old framed photos have mold problems is
due to placing glass on top of the photograph with no matt
between.
Back then most people never thought about this being a
problem.
But it is the major cause, glass touching the photo.
Many times I had to repair photos sticking to the
glass.
This is because glass sweats and the dampness gets trapped
behind the glass.
So do not let glass touch the restored photograph.
